Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Nur ŞAVKAN – Participation in an International Scientific Congress

Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Nur ŞAVKAN participated online in the 6th International Ahi Evran Congress and presented the scientific paper entitled “Priming Techniques in Seeds in the Light of Molecular and Epigenetic Approaches,” which she co-authored with Hasan Can.

The study evaluated seed priming techniques within the framework of molecular and epigenetic approaches. The effects of these applications on germination performance, stress tolerance, and plant development were discussed in light of the current scientific literature. Through the presentation, the research findings were shared with national and international researchers, facilitating scientific exchange and discussion on the subject.

This participation is considered an important academic activity in terms of enhancing the department’s international scientific visibility, disseminating research findings on international platforms, and fostering academic collaborations.

Research Assistant Alperen DONAT – Participation in an International Scientific Congress

Research Assistant Alperen DONAT participated in person in the AHİ EVRAN 6th International Scientific Research Congress, held in Pristina, Kosovo, from June 4–7, 2026, with his scientific paper entitled “Methods Used for Preserving Aronia.”

The study presented at the congress evaluated methods used to preserve the quality characteristics of aronia fruit in accordance with current scientific approaches. The effects of different preservation techniques on product quality, shelf life, and functional properties were examined. The research findings were shared with national and international researchers, providing an opportunity for scientific exchange and discussion.

During the congress, current scientific developments in the field were followed, academic interaction was established with researchers from different disciplines, and potential opportunities for future research and collaboration were explored. This international event contributed significantly to the development of research activities, enhancement of scientific visibility, and strengthening of international academic networks.

The participation in this congress constitutes an important academic activity in terms of enhancing the department’s scientific research capacity, disseminating research findings through international platforms, and developing academic collaborations.

Research Assistant Tuğbagül KOCAMAN – Participation in an International Scientific Congress

Research Assistant Tuğbagül KOCAMAN participated in the 8th International Anatolian Agriculture, Food, Environment and Biology Congress, held in Sinop, Türkiye, in 2026, with two scientific papers.

The papers presented at the congress are as follows:

  • “Effects of Leaf Removal and Shoot Tipping Applied at Different Stages on Some Yield and Quality Characteristics of Kalecik Karası (Vitis vinifera L.) Grape Cultivar Grown under Ankara Conditions”
  • “Determination of the Effects of Saponin Extract Applied at Different Doses on the Germination of Salvia officinalis Seeds”

The studies evaluated, based on scientific data, the effects of cultural practices applied in viticulture on grape yield and quality characteristics, as well as the potential effects of naturally derived plant compounds on seed germination in medicinal and aromatic plants.

Participation in this international congress contributed significantly to following current scientific developments, sharing research findings with the international scientific community, and developing academic collaborations with researchers from different universities. The event also contributed to enhancing the department’s scientific visibility, research capacity, and international academic engagement.

Research Assistant Melike Kübra KARABACAK – Community Engagement Activity

Research Assistant Melike Kübra KARABACAK served as an instructor in the “Mushroom Cultivation Training” program organized for individuals under probation measures, as part of a community engagement initiative conducted in collaboration with the Kırşehir Public Education Center and the Kırşehir Courthouse Probation Directorate.

During the 30-hour training program, participants received both theoretical and practical training on the fundamental principles of mushroom cultivation, preparation of the production environment, compost and spawn applications, management of production processes, hygiene and sanitation requirements, harvesting, and marketing.

This activity contributed to strengthening collaboration between the university and public institutions, developing participants’ vocational skills, and enhancing their employability in line with the university’s community engagement mission. Furthermore, the training program represents an important example of social responsibility, supporting the promotion of a culture of sustainable entrepreneurship in agricultural production and contributing to the social reintegration of individuals under probation measures.
