The Ahi Seed Society, which operates within the Faculty of Agriculture at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University and aims to contribute to the professional development of our students, organized a comprehensive technical trip to Ankara.

On December 4, 2025, as part of the organization, our student members and academic advisors visited the Turkey Seed Gene Bank, which serves as Turkey's agricultural genetic memory, and the Ankara University Faculty of Agriculture Museum, which has a long-standing history.

The first stop of the tour was the Turkish Seed Gene Bank, affiliated with the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Welcomed by expert researchers, our students received detailed information about the collection, conservation, and sustainable use of plant genetic resources. Our students had the opportunity to observe the seed acceptance stages, moisture absorption, packaging, and long-term storage processes in cold storage at temperatures ranging from -18°C to +4°C. During the visit, which emphasized the strategic importance of protecting biological diversity, presentations were also given on our country's endemic plant resources. After the presentations, our students participated in a survey, giving them the opportunity to reinforce what they had learned.

At the second stop of the program, our students visited the Ankara University Faculty of Agriculture Museum, where they witnessed the historical development of agricultural education and agricultural technologies. The historical agricultural tools, old laboratory equipment, insect collections, and documents shedding light on agricultural history on display at the museum were examined with interest by our students.

The technical tour ended with a commemorative photo session.
