At the Faculty of Agriculture of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, separate evaluation meetings were held with all academic departments in line with the principles of participatory management and continuous improvement. During the meetings, the views and suggestions of department faculty members were gathered, and current practices and achievements were reviewed; strengths, areas for improvement, and potential improvement initiatives to be implemented in the future were evaluated collectively.



During the meetings chaired by Dean Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar, faculty members from each department gathered to engage in a comprehensive exchange of views on the activities carried out to date, the needs identified, and new initiatives that could contribute to the faculty’s development. While the meetings provided an opportunity for the departments to directly share their own needs and suggestions, they also served as an important platform for assessing common goals and priority areas for improvement across the entire faculty.

Improvements to Physical Infrastructure and Test Sites Were Discussed

One of the topics discussed at the meetings was the physical facilities of the faculty building and the practical training and experimental areas. While evaluating the improvements made recently, the opinions and suggestions of the department’s faculty members were sought regarding future adjustments that could be made to ensure the existing facilities are used more effectively for educational, research, and practical training activities.

In particular, joint assessments were made regarding the continuous development of the physical infrastructure supporting education and research processes, the more effective use of experimental areas, and meeting the departments’ needs to the extent possible.

Course Assignments and Academic Planning Were Discussed

Issues related to conducting educational and teaching processes in a more organized and efficient manner were also among the key items on the meeting agenda. The methods used in course assignments were evaluated, and an exchange of views took place on how to conduct the process more effectively, taking into account departmental needs, faculty members’ areas of expertise, and academic workload.

Dean Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar emphasized the need to identify and minimize potential conflicts in course, classroom, and faculty schedules as early as possible during student course registration and the preparation of semester schedules, and he highlighted the importance of stakeholder-focused planning in educational processes.

Strengthening the Academic Staff of the Departments Is on the Agenda

During the meetings, the current number of faculty members in each department and their academic staffing needs were also evaluated in detail. The importance of increasing academic staff to enable the departments to carry out their teaching, research, project, and graduate education activities more effectively was emphasized.

It was noted that the Dean’s Office had submitted the necessary requests to convey the departments’ staffing needs to the relevant authorities, and it was stated that efforts to strengthen the faculty’s academic capacity would continue.

The Goal Is to Build on the Success Achieved in TÜBİTAK 2209 Projects

As part of research and development activities, particular emphasis was placed on student projects and TÜBİTAK support programs. Dean Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar thanked the faculty members and students of the Department of Biosystems Engineering—which achieved the highest number of TÜBİTAK 2209 projects within the faculty—for their contributions.

Noting that this achievement is significant for the development of the faculty’s project culture, Çınar stated that, in the coming period, the goal should be not only to increase research activities under the TÜBİTAK 2209 University Student Research Projects Support Program but also to encourage faculty members to submit more project proposals to other TÜBİTAK support programs.

During the meetings, which also highlighted the importance of submitting more proposals in response to project calls aligned with the university’s areas of specialization, a consensus was reached on further developing the faculty’s research capacity through various project mechanisms.

Efforts to Promote the Submission of Student Projects to Competitions Will Be Encouraged

Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar noted that high-quality work carried out by students under the TÜBİTAK 2209 program should not be limited to the project process alone, and emphasized the importance of directing suitable projects toward national and international R&D and project competitions.

It was noted that having student projects evaluated in competitions would not only contribute to students’ research and innovation skills but also present a significant opportunity to showcase the faculty’s scientific and technological achievements to a wider audience and enhance its visibility.

New Initiatives to Expand Graduate Education Capacity

The issue of developing the faculty’s graduate education capacity was also discussed at the meetings. Dean Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar congratulated the faculty members who had successfully completed the processes for academic promotion and title changes, noting that the development of the faculty’s academic workforce also presented significant potential for the creation of new graduate programs.

While discussions were held regarding the efforts of departments that meet the necessary academic and regulatory requirements to launch master’s and doctoral programs, it was emphasized that increasing the number and quality of graduate programs would make a significant contribution to the faculty’s educational and research capacity.

Efforts to Increase Contributions to Tazelenme University Were Reviewed

The contributions the faculty could make to the “University of Renewal” initiatives—which the university carries out as part of its social contribution activities—were also on the meeting agenda. Opportunities to increase contributions to the educational programs and events offered under the “University of Renewal” by leveraging the academic knowledge and areas of expertise of the departments were evaluated.

In this context, it was emphasized that the faculty must strengthen its mission of social contribution not only through formal education and scientific research activities but also by sharing its accumulated knowledge with various segments of society.

Consultation with the Department of Animal Science for the Livestock Farm

At the meeting held with the Department of Animal Science, discussions took place regarding the establishment of a livestock farm that could contribute to the faculty’s applied education and research capacity.

While exchanging views on the potential contributions the farm could make to education and training, scientific research, student internships, and the university’s efforts toward regional development, consultations were held regarding the technical and physical requirements of the project and the steps that could be taken in the future.

Emphasis on Participatory Management and Continuous Improvement

It was noted that directly gathering faculty members’ views and suggestions during meetings held separately by department made a significant contribution to the faculty’s management and improvement processes.

Through evaluations conducted within a broad framework—ranging from physical infrastructure to academic human resources, from education and teaching planning to scientific projects, and from graduate education to social contribution activities—the aim was to comprehensively address the current situation and identify steps that could be taken in the future.

The Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Agriculture will continue its efforts in the areas of education and teaching, research and development, community engagement, and institutional development in line with a participatory management approach that takes into account the views and suggestions of the departments.
