TAGEM Support for Yet Another Project Involving Our Department of Animal Science

Prof. Dr. Serdar KAMANLI, a faculty member in the Department of Animal Science at the Faculty of Agriculture, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University , has been awarded funding under the 21st Call for Proposals of the TAGEM R&D Support Program. The project, titled “Investigation of Sex Selection Possibilities During the Embryonic Development Stage in Chickens,” will be led by Karal Advanced Technology R&D Trade Inc.

With a budget of 5,300,000 TL and a project duration of 36 months, the study will involve a collaboration between Karal Advanced Technology R&D Trade Inc., Uşak University, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Karadeniz Technical University, and the Poultry Research Institute.

The project aims to investigate the feasibility of sex determination in hatching chicken eggs during the embryonic development stage using artificial intelligence-supported methods. The goal is to develop innovative and practical solutions that enable the determination of chick sex before the incubation process is complete.

The project is expected to develop a technological alternative to current sex determination practices in the poultry sector, contribute to animal welfare and production economics, promote the widespread use of artificial intelligence technologies in poultry production, and strengthen university-industry collaboration.

We congratulate Prof. Dr. Serdar KAMANLI and the project team and wish them success in their work.
